Welcome to Shadow Oak Arabians

Shadow Oak Arabians is honored to have you visit our website.

Our journey started as city folks. Mark was in management in the computer industry and Betty Jo in the insurance claims industry. It took Mark 10 years to convince Betty Jo to move out to the county. We were looking for a different life style, which began in 2001.

We bought our first horses in 2002 for joy riding. In 2003 a friend introduced us to the Arabian Horse. We were enamored with their beauty and personality. And we have been hooked ever since.

We now have 18 Arabian horses, 35 goats (really cute weed eaters), chickens, a duck, guinea hens, 5 dogs, 3 cats and a partridge in a pear tree. No, really it is a Lovebird. And the occasional snake that Mark rescues, to the chagrin of Betty Jo and Nichole.

We are now a small breeder whose mission is to breed for Beauty, Spirit, and Poetry of Motion. Our goal is to produce and market Arabian horses that are show quality for halter/in hand competition, as well as the performance under saddle. We believe every horse has a full life from in hand showing to the riding performance arena. We encourage our customers to purchase young horses, which provides a unique bond between owner and horse that will last a lifetime.

The last 8 months have been a whirlwind for us...

  • In November 2009, we sold LC Gabriele to Murillo Kammer of Brazil.
  • In February, at Scottsdale 2010 we sold our Region 3 Sport Horse Champion Zonyx to Thomas and Signe Kirk Kristiansen in Denmark. We were sad to see him go, but we look forward to his success at his new home. You can see Zonyx at www.kirk-arabians.dk.
  • In April, SO Adiva won the Las Vegas 2010 Word Cup Supreme Champion Mare ATH.
  • We have had great success and enjoyment showing 5 of our horses this year with Jesse Saldana, and Mark in the ATH classes. These were Zonyx, Zorradoo, SO Adiva, QR Martina, and QR Sarah. We invite you can see their outstanding achievements by clicking on the show results tab.
  • In May we had our first Zonyx foal born (Zonyx x Ambers On Fire). SO Xzavier, a colt, and what a cutie. Big eyes, excellent type, upright long hooky neck, his color is a bay with four flashy white socks. We are very pleased that Zonyx improved the mare’s type, shoulder, neck and legs. We are very excited with the potential of our first Zonyx foal. So look for SO Xzavier in the 2011 show ring as a yearling.
  • Also in May, QR Anna Marie had her first foal, SO Fia, sired by Akdar Brins. We are delighted with this gorgeous filly, with big eyes, exotic type, very hooky ears, short mussel, and great neck. She is also promising to have a great future in the show ring.
