Welcome to Shadow Oak Arabians

Shadow Oak Arabians is honored to have you visit our website.

Our journey started as city folks. Mark was in management in the computer industry and Betty Jo in the insurance claims industry. It took Mark 10 years to convince Betty Jo to move out to the county. We were looking for a different life style, which began in 2001.

We bought our first horses in 2002 for joy riding. In 2003 a friend introduced us to the Arabian Horse. We were enamored with their beauty and personality. And we have been hooked ever since.

We now have 18 Arabian horses, 35 goats (really cute weed eaters), chickens, a duck, guinea hens, 5 dogs, 3 cats and a partridge in a pear tree. No, really it is a Lovebird. And the occasional snake that Mark rescues, to the chagrin of Betty Jo and Nichole.

We are now a small breeder whose mission is to breed for Beauty, Spirit, and Poetry of Motion. Our goal is to produce and market Arabian horses that are show quality for halter/in hand competition, as well as the performance under saddle. We believe every horse has a full life from in hand showing to the riding performance arena. We encourage our customers to purchase young horses, which provides a unique bond between owner and horse that will last a lifetime.

2010 was a whirlwind for us. It was a year of many firsts. 2011 is still unfolding and includes:

Zonyx, our Region 3 Sport Horse Champion, at Scottsdale 2010 to Thomas and Signe Kirk Kristiansen in Denmark. You can see Zonyx at www.kirk-arabians.dk. In March 2011, Zonyx won the Championship refinement Stallion class, and has been licensed to be a breeding Stallion by the Danish Warmblood Association. He is the first Arabian Stallion to ever be approved by the Danish Warmblood Association. Zonyx has gone on to Dressage competition and is winning everything he is entered so far.

  • SO Adiva won the Las Vegas 2010 Word Cup Supreme Champion Mare ATH, 2010 Canadian Reserve Champion 2 year old fillies, placed top 10 at Scottsdale 2011 and will be showing at US Nationals in 2011.
  • Zorradoo had many first 1st places and Championships at halter in 2011, Top 5 at Region III, and 3rd Place at US Nationals, with Jesse Saldana and Mark. This year he is under saddle and in training for competion for next year.
  • SO Jazz’d, a 3 year old Stallion, won Reserve Champion at AHANC Futurity class. At Pacific Coast Arabian Sport Horse Classic, Stallions 3-5 year olds won a couple of 1st places. He scored an 84 in the Amateur class. Note: He is a full brother to Zonyx, and has a lot of potential for bigger things in the future.
  • Ameer Al Zamaan, a 3 year old Gelding, won Reserve Champion at AHANC Futurity class, and at Region III Sport Horse at Hand ATH placed in the Top 5.
  • SO Xzavier, foaled May 2010, our first Zonyx foal, by our mare, Ambers On Fire. SO Xzavier, is a colt, and what a cutie! Big eyes, excellent type, and an upright long hooky neck. His color is a dark bay with four long, flashy white socks. We are very pleased that Zonyx improved the mare’s type, shoulder, neck and legs. We are very excited with the potential of our first Zonyx foal.
  • SO Adira (RHR Marcedes x Balih's Treasure), a filly with a foal date of April 22,2011, looks awesome. She was bred through the AHBA Stallion Futurity Auction. She is nominated Scottsdale Futurity, AHBA Futurity, AHANC Futurity, Canadian and US Nationals Futurities and Breeders Sweepstakes.
